It is in you.... it rests within you.... |
In te est, "it is in you" or "it rests within you" a beautiful little latin I've learnt and fully taken on board this week. Courtesy of the first podcast I had in my ears this week and certainly my recommended listen. Neuroscience is facinating and Dr Lara Boyd, on with Mel Robbins this week, did such an amazing job at reminding me of the power of your ability to rewire your brain at any age. The body is amazing, you can change your gut health and therefore your immune health in as little as 5 days, that's scientifically proven and something here at The Clean Cook is our core aim to support you to do, both with our food and our coaching Amazingly the plasticity of your brain enables growth to happen even more quickly and at any age. I found it so hopeful and interesting and have already shared it with lots of likeminded peeps including a few of you. Your brain is shaped by the environment and experiences around you and it's up to you what you want that to be. What is it that you want to learn and avoid, you have the opportunity to shape your brain and your environment by the experiences you give it. It's been a real grounder this week, especially when Dylan asked me yesterday "why are some people born cleverer than others" and I could talk to him about how we can all be 'cleverer', or 'improve' with repetition and practise and creating an environment coducive to growth. The difference is that some people are more gifted in certain areas to begin with and that makes the most difficult part (starting), easier for them. However doing hard things can help your brain learn and change significantly more, so if someone less gifted were to start and work hard through the challenge to begin with they would significantly grow their brains ability in that area, compared to the person who naturally found it easy to begin with, the gap would close. When you challenge yourself and diligently practise, you build a level of 'persevilience' too, one that might just give you the super power of staying in the game a skill that is significantly lacking in the current world. Your 'growth' after all is a continuum not a destination, if it were it wouldn't be growth.
So stick with things, definitely one for the diet hoppers and the New Year exercise enthusiast that one, quitting too soon is the biggest cause of failure there is, you have to stay in the game to succeed, not flip flop, save them for the beach. Stick with it and you will positively create a habit that makes achieving your goal inevitable. Start that hard thing, for the huge growth surge it will give you, starting is the hard bit and know what lies on the other side is glorious growth. Your mind creates your reality, so make that reality fueled with positivity, can do, belief and good vibes. Remember, talk to yourself as a friend, give yourself a name you love and respect, we all thrive on encouragement and love, not scornful, derogatory, awful self talk. This technique really helps.
Hope you find this helpful and you can use it to just make life that little bit happier and healthier. Building mental strength is just like building physical strength, it's ongoing and it's about those daily actions, building repetition and positive habits that support you continually growing into who you want to be.
Big love Michelle x x
